Product review: from the most basic to the most expensive, few building products span such a hugh range of quality and styles as kitchen and bathroom fittings
Article Abstract:
There is little real innovation in the kitchen and bathroom fittings market, with most design reacting to current fashions. The bathroom fittings industry is dominated by the 'period' bathroom suite and there are some comprehensive and authentic ranges offered by B C Sanitan. Ideal Standard's Chloe range offers bright primary colours in a contemporary style. Some manufacturers offer space-saving baths and water saving features. Acrylic and composite sinks are dominating the kitchen market and a new three way tap system is offered by Franke.

Library with an inexpensive shell but quality fittings
Article Abstract:
The new St George's Library at Sheffield University was designed by project architect Nick Cole to meet the trend for information technology (IT) to become part of all forms of information handling by libraries. It is intended to be as flexible as possible, giving adequate space for IT-based work, but had to meet a restricted budget, so uses simple forms and materials. Overall construction cost was 638 pounds sterling per sq mt.
