Article Abstract:
A new generation of fibre optic lighting is one of the latest lighting options. Fibre optics systems are mainly used for special effects and display, where the ability to control the beam is particularly useful. Another lighting trend is the development of smaller fluorescent tubes which has facilitated the introduction of more stylish light fittings, including the Less from Thorn Lighting and the Aida from Ridi Lighting. There are also developments in street lighting and the design of trunking systems, and there is mounting attention to the fire dangers of acrylic diffusers.

Water Matters has launched the Smart Plumbing greywater system, in which waste water is collected in an underground sump and filtered and disinfected before being pumped to a high-level tank. Aquavert claims that its Flushsaver system reduces fresh water consumption by up to 23% a year.
