Product review

Article Abstract:

Brickwork is regarded as simple, traditional construction but it is increasingly complex. There are many products available including numerous designs of bricks, concrete and other artificial blocks as well as accessories. Developments in insulation, cavity wall construction and the requirements of legislation and standards all affect the brick industry. The choice of clay bricks depends on durability, appearance and cost. Concrete blocks either resemble natural materials or are used for their own qualities. Accessories include stainless steel ties, PVC-U cavity closers, gauge tape and stitching anchors.

Product review

Article Abstract:

There have been many devlopments in lift design and in control of lifts. Most manufacturers supply standard equipment but lifts can be customised to a unique design. Traction lifts are the most popular but hydraulic lifts can be better where space for machinery is limited and the building is not too high. Special equipment for disabled people is available. Escalators can move many people with no waiting time but are slow and of limited width. Stairs can be of metal, wood or concrete and are often one-off designs.

Product review

Article Abstract:

A number of trends can be identified when reviewing latest developments in pitched roofing products. Manufacturers are offering lighter, modern materials which are more suitable for lower pitches and do not require traditional fixings and skills. Customers are also seeking products which can be fixed more quickly, and there is demand for products which resemble traditional materials. Tile products are still widely used, but older metal roofing materials are also regaining popularity.
