China demonstrates its most applauded liberal attitude in the wake of protests looming the country. The Chinese people are once more in the streets to denounce unfair treatment of ethnic Chinese in Indonesia, and the Xinguoda Futures Co scandal. Reports reaching China reveal alarming cases of abuses against ethnic Chinese by Indonesians. On the other hand, reports that a Xinguoda futures contract fund manager has left the firm with millions of investments with him, have sent many protesters anew in the streets.

Hong Kong cries for help, but the problem may be local

Article Abstract:

The 65% vote given to Hong Kong's three primary prodemocratic parties convey that the people of Hong Kong are demanding that their leaders pay attention. As a result, the city's chief executive, Tung Chee Hwa, disclosed a $5.6 bil relief package aimed at bolstering Hong Kong's free-falling property market and allow reasonable tax rebates. Hong Kong's recession was brought about by the broader Asian crisis and not the shift of sovereignty.
