Qwest's Ex-CEO is charged in probe of insider trading

Article Abstract:

Former Chief Executive Officer Joseph Nacchio, Qwest Communications International Inc. of the United States has been charged with insider trading. A criminal investigation revealed that Mr. Nacchio sold approximately $101 million in Qwest securities in 2001 on insider information, amongst 42 related charges. If convicted Mr. Nacchio could be sentenced to ten years and a fine of $1 million for each charge, as well as $101 million in restitution.

France Telecom is to streamline, raise dividend

Article Abstract:

France Telecom S.A. of France posted a soaring net profit, up 89 percent to 5.71 billion Euros ($6.8 billion) in 2005 from 3.02 billion Euros last year. The telecommunications company is restructuring and is to cut its workforce by eight percent or 17,000 employees.

AT&T plans more job cuts, asset write-off
