Watchdogs that work for Medicaid Programs, insurers and nonprofit organizations are studying the advertising of pharmaceutical companies, debunking advertising spin on new medications. By studying the clinical trials closely they are able to help the consumer understand what the research is really saying.

Allergan bets on aesthetic medicine: Botox maker plans ad push to position itself as leader; a direct-to-consumer tack

In a bid to gain market share, Allergan Inc. plans to spend more money on advertising such aesthetic medicine products as breast implants and facial-rejuvenation treatments . The goal is to make such products as acceptable to consumers as Botox.
