Recent Economic Developments in the ECE Region
Article Abstract:
Economic recovery from the recent recession has been stronger in North America than in Western Europe. The outlook for continued recovery is stronger in the United States than in Eastern Europe. World trade volume is stagnant. The rate of inflation has continued to fall. The Eastern European countries have also experienced an upturn in economic activity.

East-West Economic Relationships
Article Abstract:
East-West trade and finance are reviewed. Western trade with the Soviet Union is expanding. Western imports are increasing, but Western exports are decreasing. The financial situation in Eastern Europe is improving. Western banks are beginning to open up their lending to Eastern Europe. Charts are provided.
