Riling NATO. (France and relations with NATO)
Article Abstract:
France's bid to rejoin the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has again encountered a setback in the form of a US decision not to devolve power to Europe. The US currently plays a significant part in the NATO leadership and the French have been pushing for the US to give up its post in favor for a European nation taking charge of the European front. European nations are currently debating the formation of another defense alliance for the European front that would hopefully include France.

Article Abstract:
NATO and Russia are working towards a special partnership. Now NATO can begin to take new members. Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary are invitees. But Italy wants to include Slovenia which has no stable democracy, and France wants Romania. Reasons why it is too early for Romania are discussed.

Bigger NATO, safer world?
Article Abstract:
The pomp and circumstance surrounding Poland's, Hungary's, and the Czech Republic's entry into NATO should not detract attention from the need for Europe and the US to create new policies for collective security in the post-Cold War era. Several policy suggestions are advanced.
