Romania: bordering on a boom
Article Abstract:
Changes in Romania following the collapse of communism have lead to the privatisation of many state owned companies which are particularly attractive to foreign investors. Although investment from abroad increased by 45% to $272 million during the first six months of 1995, Romania is not attracting as many foreign companies as other countries in the region. The difficulty of finding enough trained workers from its population of 24 million people is a problem but they do provide the possibility of a large consumer base for newly manufactured goods.
