Roots of Goldfinger's design
Article Abstract:
A study of the Waterfield House at Broxted, Essex, 2 Willow Road, Hampstead, and the Player House, Richmond, gives clear indications about the use of proportional systems by architect Erno Goldfinger. He was greatly influenced by the interest in proportional systems which was common during his student and early professional days, and his student projects emphasise the importance of the square as a proportioning device. This approach is less clear in the larger projects which he undertook after the second world war.
