Troubled Pakistanis have a new hero in cricket star Imran Khan, who may be positioning himself to challenge prime minister Benazir Bhutto. Pakistan is plagued by a floundering economy and a myriad of social problems and may be looking for new leadership.

Several prominent opposition leaders and their families have been arrested by the Pakistani government in an attempt to squelch an insurrection against Prime Benazir Bhutto. Those arrested include Sheikh Rashid, Saeed Qadir and Chaudry Shujaat Hussain.
