Pres Ibrahim Babangida had been promising to hold presidential elections for eight years, but when elections were held in June 1993 he refused to accept the results. His promise of elections on Aug 27, 1993, has drawn skepticism, and one major party is refusing to run a candidate.

Article Abstract:
Nigerian Pres Ibrahim Babangida's actions in annulling the country's election results and effectively rigging new elections are ridiculous. The country needs a focused government that will address the serious economic problems it faces.
