Russia's oil exports put OPEC in a spin; shipments soar as industry finds ways for bypassing a clogged pipeling system
Article Abstract:
Russian oil exports are expected to rise 15 percent in 2004, or to about 600,000 barrels a day, according to government and private sector forecasters. Steps such as accelerating the expansion of a port near St. Petersburg, Russia and bypassing the more crowded Bosporus pipeline route, have lead to the production increases. Larger projects to construct new pipelines have been somewhat stymied by political wrangling.
