SCI SAILS AHEAD WITH 7% RISE IN NET PROFIT

Article Abstract:

The net profit of the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) has improved by seven percent to Rs250.16 crore for 1997-98 (Rs233.27 crore in 1996-97). SCI's income from operations has gone up by six percent to Rs2,412.32 crore (Rs2,269.72 crore). Profit on sale of vessels has declined from Rs43.28 crore to Rs20.41 crore. Interest burden is at Rs150.86 crore (Rs199.84 crore) and depreciation at Rs228.36 crore (Rs235.69 crore). SCI proposes to purchase 13 vessels at a cost of $450 million in 1998-99. (uh)

SCI Q3 NET UP 2.7 PER CENT

Article Abstract:

The Shipping Corporation of India has posted a 2.7 percent increase in net profit to Rs39.81 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 1998 (Rs38.76 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 1997). Its income from operations has increased to Rs671.67 crore (Rs609.93 crore). Its total expenditure rose to Rs539.77 crore (Rs487 crore). It has provided Rs61.90 crore towards depreciation (Rs56.87 crore) and Rs 14.25 crore for taxation. (rk)(vr)

SCI NET STAGNANT IN FIRST HALF

Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), a shipping company having presence in the bulk carrier segment, has posted a stagnant net profit during the first half of 1998-99. During the period, the net profit was around Rs102.29 crore (Rs102.70 crore during the first half of 1997-98). SCI posted an improvement in its income from operations to Rs1262.75 crore (Rs1194.07 crore). (ag)
