SES's premium for AsiaSat shouldn't sway investors; $372 million agreement does improve Asian telecom's growth prospects, analysts concede

Article Abstract:

Individual investors should not follow Societe Europeenne des Satellites' (SES) lead in acquiring a stake in Asia Satellite Telecommunications Holdings. SES paid a hefty sum by agreeing to pay HK$19.25 for every share of one-third of AsiaSat. Citic Pacific bought shares for HK$13.20 which Cable and Wireless and Hutchison Whampoa said was just right for one of the major shareholders of Asiasat.
