Sanitas sells its Slovak subsidiary
Article Abstract:
Sanitas (Ricany u Prahy, Czech Republic), pharmaceutical producer and distributor, sold its subsidiary Sanitas Horna Streda (SHS) (Horna Streda, Slovakia) at the beginning of 2001. SHS was bought by the investment company Penta Group (Slovakia). SHS, which has roughly a 6-7% share on the Slovak pharmaceutical market, saw proceeds of about CEK 200 mil in 2000. The parent company Sanitas belongs to the multinational group Pharmacia Corporation, which originated in 2000 as a merger between Monsanto (US) and Pharmacia & Upjohn (US/Sweden).

SUN PHARMA H1 NET UP 2% TO Rs27 CR

The net profit of Sun Pharma increased by 2 percent to Rs26.7 crore during the first half of 1998-99. Its sales increased by 12 percent to Rs153 crore (Rs137 crore in the first half of 1997- 98). Total exports increased by 68 percent to over Rs37 crore (Rs22 crore). Bulk drug exports increased by 100 percent to Rs24.7 crore. Export of high value speciality bulk drugs to Europe and Latin America has increased. (vv)

KNOLL NET DIPS TO Rs27.09 CRORE IN 1998

The net profit of Knoll Pharmaceuticals has declined to Rs27.09 crore on sales of Rs262.4 crore in the year ended December 1998 compared to a net profit of Rs49.95 crore on sales of Rs243.3 crore in 1997. The fall in profits is due to the extraordinary outgo of Rs13.39 crore from having spent Rs10.2 crore in acquiring the Epilex brand from Reckitt & Colman and Rs3.19 crore on a voluntary retirement scheme.
