Philosophers and scientists Rene Descartes, Paul Churchland, Gilbert Ryle, Hilary Putnam, David Chalmers and Daniel Dennett have attempted to address the connection between the mind and the body. The existence of consciousness and unconsiousness is a popular scientific debate that has no clear answers.

Japanese housewives, who supposedly control many family budgets, apparently are becoming more daring in their investments. There has been an increase in the sale of 'samurai' bonds, somewhat risky yen-denominated bonds that are produced by foreign companies and governments.

Researchers have discovered that the brain processes similar information in many different ways. Incoming information is often disassembled and reassembled. Memory, language and the senses are handled by the brain in a complex manner.
