The Sep 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the US and subsequent US attacks on Afghanistan have prompted a review of US attitudes towards Saudi Arabia and Iran. Iran has co-operated with the US war against terrorism more than had been expected, while Saudi Arabia has seemed unwilling to get involved.

Article Abstract:

The terrorist attacks on the US have led Iran to send more conciliatory signals to the US. Reformists in Iran would like closer links with the US, while both reformists and those around supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei want to stop any more Afghan refugees flooding into Iran.
