A general statistical process control model employing the dynamic control policy with a simplified approximate model to resolve the implementation issues is presented. The results provide implementable quality control policies for the complex system, and fundamental understanding necessary to develop other efficient process control models.

A new scheduling rule that minimizes the number of tardy jobs in a dynamic flow shop consisting of 'm' machines is discussed. Shortest processing time(SPT) dispatching rule is compared to earliest due date (EDD) dispatching rule and a detailed analysis is given.
