Serbia: Bidders for cement mills

Article Abstract:

The Serbian government expects to raise about EUR 218mn in the privatisation of three cement factories . Each of the three factories are to be sold to a different buyer. The future owner of the largest factory, the one in Beocin, will become the market leader in the Balkan. Reportedly those interested in taking over the mills include Lafarge , Heidelberger and Asamer of Austria.

DENMARK: DONG ACQUIRES LICENSE FOR PART OF TRYM

Article Abstract:

The Danish oil- and natural gas company DONG has signed a deal with Norwegian oil company Statoil. DONG is to acquire 20 percent of a Norwegian licence to extract natural gas from the Trym field in the North Sea. The field is situated close to other fields controlled by DONG, meaning that existing infrastructure can readily be used to transport gas to Denmark. Norwegian authorities have yet to approve of the acquisition.

PORTUGAL: FLS FACES BIGGER CHALLENGES

The position of FLS, the cement company will be challenged by French Lafarge as the French company yesterday launched a plan for strategic partnership with the partly state-owned Cimpor-Cimentos, the partly state-owned Portuguese cement company.
