Outdoor advertising company More Group Canada will operate as Eller Media Co starting Jan 2000. The group's parent company More Group PLC of the UK was acquired by Clear Channel Communications Inc of San Antonio, TX, which also owns media firm Eller Universal of Phoenix, AZ. More Group Canada has recently signed a 10-year contract with Toronton's Peson International Airport covering Terminals One and Two, while Terminal Three will be incorporated into the deal when the airport's contract with Urban Outdoor Trans-Ad expires in 2001.

Oneworld minus one

Article Abstract:

Canadian airline alliance Oneworld has been weakened by the departure of Canadian Airlines from its ranks, after its acquisition by Air Canada. The most affected is American Airlines, which has a 33% stake in Canadian Airlines, before Air Canada's takeover. A spokesman for American Airlines said they were counting on Canadian Airlines to expand their service in Canada. The airline would now have to do its Canadian marketing alone and offer more transborder flights as it goes head-to-head with Air Canada.

Canadian advertising agencies are beginning to look outside of North America for expansion opportunities. The trend is aided by the low Canadian dollar, a development that permits production costs to be lower by 25% to 40% compared to works done in the US. The advantages of working with Canadian agencies are not confined to costs but include having a fresh perspective from which to view a particular project.
