Shell cedes control of pivotal Russian oil project: deal with Gazprom dims output, reserves prospects but eases Kremlin pressure

Royal Dutch Shell PLC has relinquished control of the Sakhalin II oil project to OAO Gazprom, for $7.4 5 billion. Shell, which has recently been behind in reserve replacement and output , is forecasting a further drop as a result of this deal .
