The privatization of the banking industry has been a boon to the Mexican government, generating $12.4 billion since Jun 1991. Investors were eager to get in on the sale even at high prices, because the country has always had too few banks.

Into private hands: French banks
Article Abstract:
The French government plans to private more of its banks, and the Banque Nationale de Paris (BNP) is the likely to be the first. The share prices of BNP have risen, and it is in better financial shape than rival Credit Lyonnais.
