Shiite insurgents are complicating the transfer of power in Iraq by taking on US forces. Actions of the insurgents, supporters of anti-American Muslim cleric Muqtada al Sadr, may affect the June 30 date set for turning the country over to national rule.

Turkey agrees to send troops to assist in Iraq

The Turkish Parliament has agreed to deploy its soldiers to aid in the U.S. in the peacekeeping of post-Saddam Hussein Iraq. Turkey's decision is the first major contribution of soldiers by a Muslim nation to Iraq.
