Singapore's budget gives companies, public a break
Article Abstract:
Singapore's 1996 budget plan will feature major reductions in corporate and personal income tax rates. Income tax rates for individuals will be cut by two percentage points while rates for corporations will be reduced by one percentage points. In addition, the budget also includes rent rebates, exemptions for charitable contributions and cash gifts for armed forces personnel. Such measures are aimed at reducing the country's fiscal surplus whose 1996 projections have recently revised and estimated at around $5 billion by the end of FY 1996 on Mar. 31, 1997.
