Skoda Plzen will not set up a motor division

Article Abstract:

Skoda Plzen (SP) (Plzen, Czech Republic), holding engineering company, will probably not set up a planned motor division. In June 1998 SP arranged an agreement about the future contract on the sale of a 46% stake in the motor company Tatra (Koprivnice, Czech Republic) to the investment company SDC International (US). SDC will acquire a 80% stake in Tatra after the purchase of shares from SP and the taking over of Tatra's debt from Komercni banka (KB) (Czech Republic). SDC will probably offer the stake in Tatra to a foreign motor company. Tatra has a debt of 3 bil Kc towards KB. Tatra's total credit burden is about 6 bil Kc.
