Basetex (Usti nad Orlici, Czech Republic), textile machine manufacturer, has invested 130 mil Kc in its restructuring. The company expects a turnover of 2 mil Kc per employee in 1998. The company's productivity of labour from added value per employee will be 460,000 Kc in 1998 compared to 120,000 Kc in 1995. The firm decreased the number of its employees from 710 to 385 in 1995. The company's production volume will increase by 25% in 1998 compared to 1995. Basetex is involved in the final assemblies of machines, the production of strategical and economical components for new technological equipment. The firm exports more than 97% of its production, mainly to Spain, Portugal, Turkey, South America, Southeastern Asia, India and China. The firm has representative offices in Southeastern Asia, Europe and South and Central America. Basetex commissioned an office in Prague, the Czech Republic, in May 1998. The firm, which manufactures spinning machines, is a division of the concern Rieter (Switzerland).

ZB saw a profit in 1998

Zivnostenska banka (ZB) (Prague, Czech Republic), bank, saw a profit of 106.569 mil Kc in 1998, according to Czech accounting standards. The firm saw a profit of 339.299 mil Kc in 1997. The bank's balance sum increased to 42.815 bil Kc in 1998 compared to 40.548 bil Kc in 1997. ZB's receivables towards clients decreased from 10.008 bil Kc to 8.283 bil Kc and its receivables towards banks from 19.377 bil Kc to 19.086 bil Kc during the same period.
