Solutions for mid-market companies: Tim Hamilton and Stuart Lees believe Manchester's corporate finance teams can score when it comes to funding for mid-market companies
Article Abstract:
Manchester is becoming recognized for its ambitious redevelopment projects, sporting excellence and vibrant arts scene. However many mid-market companies in the region are finding difficulty in attracting the attention of financial institutions and the City. The FTSE 100 shares are more likely to offer the higher returns required by pension fund managers and trustees. Also several high-profile institutions have withdrawn from handling mid-market transactions. Many of Manchester's key professional service firms are increasing mid-market deals, as the city has the expertise, infrastructure and experience to advise on local, national and global transactions.

Building on success
Article Abstract:
There have been considerable changes in the corporate finance community in Manchester over the past five years, and the size and number of transactions have increased along with the regional economy. However Manchester-based corporate financiers must show their commercial creativity with regard to deal initiation in relation to seeking good homes for the large amounts of private equity funding available. They also need to build on the Private Finance Initiative work.
