Research is presented concerning the use of a fuzzy satisficing method to plan the purchase of coal by an electric power plant. The use of genetic algorithms to overcome the multiple vague goals is discussed.

Solving an assignment-selection problem with verbal information and using genetic algorithms

Article Abstract:

A study has been conducted to examine the benefits of using verbal information for representing the vague knowledge available in assignment-selection problems. Situations in real life assignment-selection problems have been identified wherein the total cost of profit obtained does not equal the sum of the individual assignments. The developed model requires that the objects under consideration must be finite and that the objects must be assigned and selected on a one-to-one basis in relation to other objects.
