Article Abstract:
A commission headed by Michael Boskin found that the consumer price index exaggerates the true inflation rate by around 1.1% per year. Currently, 1/3 of federal spending is indexed to the CPI, and revising the index could save $1 trillion by 2008. However, retired people are likely to oppose changes.

Article Abstract:
The Olympics is no longer the international celebration of sport it was when the modern Games began again in 1896. Today's Games are more a celebration of marketing and perhaps the best opportunity for corporate giants to promote themselves.
