Stromberg retires as Shoppers' ad 'guru'

Article Abstract:

Shoppers Drug Mart VP of advertising Grod Stromberg has retired in May 19, 2000, ending his 34 years of service with the Willowdale, Ontario-based drug store chain. Stromberg is known within the company as the 'advertising guru' because of its creativity. He started his career in the 1960s as a layout artist at Plaza Drugs, which later merged with Shoppers Drug. He is replaced by Neil Everett, the company's former VP of communications, research and planning.

Cossette leads Y2K new business wins

Article Abstract:

Cossette Communications Group once again led other Canadian advertising agencies, in terms of value of advertising accounts won in 2000. The Toronto ad agency accounted for C$93 million in new advertising contracts, with a third of it coming from McDonald's consolidated advertising business. Placing second to Cossette was Publicis Canada with C$74.5 million in new business, and at third was M2 Universal with C$58.7 million in new accounts.
