Friction drive eases noise nuisance

Article Abstract:

Vanderlande Industries of the Netherlands has introduced a new range of baggage-handling carousels which are capable of 'superquiet' operation due to a noise level of only 58dB(A). The new Triplanar carousels use a friction drive instead of the noisy caterpillar system. In addition to lower noise output, the friction system does not need to be lubricated. The carousel range is available in Flat, Tilted and Easyclaim models.
