Taking a military approach to training

Alenia Marconi Systems, a UK-based company, has unveiled a new radar simulator, called Military ATC Synthetic Environment (MASE). The simulator, which has been designed to replicate a modern military approach room, uses facsimile panels to simulate radar display types. It has advanced instructor facilities that enable discrete introduction of various failures and changes to the exercise scenario.

UK-based Airliner Al has unveiled a Windows NT-based ATC training simulator called TacPro2. It features a voice recognition system, a recognizer that supports a large and complex vocabulary, and a suite of embedded tools for evaluating student performance. Designed to provide stand-alone or multiple position simulation, the TacPro2 simulator provides rudmentary and complex training scenarios
