Anecdotal reports indicate the effect of the ozone hole on Punta Arenas, Chile, the world's southernmost city, since no formal study has been done. Skin diseases are exacerbated, sheep and rabbits have gone blind, and doctors fear cancer from long-term exposure to ultraviolet rays.

America's cities: doomed to burn?

Article Abstract:

Plans need to be developed on the federal and regional government level to solve the problems of poverty-stricken urban areas. Federal aid can stop the flight of businesses and people from inner cities. Regional governments can more readily address social problems.

Ultraviolet fright: ozone depletion

Article Abstract:

Increased ultraviolet light passing through the ozone-depleted hole over the Antarctic is causing a decrease in phytoplankton production, which may upset the entire ocean food chain. The method and interpreted results of a recent experiment are discussed.
