Sweden's prime minister seeks votes for euro

Goran Persson, the prime minister of Sweden, called on his people to approve the euro currency in a referendum in the second week of September 2003. Persson said that Swedes should not turn down the euro because of Germany's and France's economic problems.

John Law's currency system was worth its weight in gold

John Law started his own bank Law and Co in 1716 but closed the operation by the end of 1717. Law experimented with the introduction of paper money.
