Sweetly flows the Volga

Article Abstract:

Nestle has been successful in a venture in Samara, Russia, where the company has opened a new production line in a chocolate plant, Rossiya, acquired by Nestle in 1994. Nestle is producing Russian brands and can cut costs by using more of the cheaper ingredients and less of the imported expensive ones such as cocoa. Avtovaz purchases components locally, so can also offset the drop in value of the ruble by avoiding imports. Both companies have tackled the problem of gangsterism, and both have been successful, though Avtovaz would be aided by a strong international partner with new technology to contribute.
