Swiss Reinsurance Co. of Switzerland is a world renowned reinsurance company. With increased weather catastrophes the company transfers the purchased risk to securities investors through catastrophe bonds or securities to lessen the effects on the company profits.

Swiss Re net leaps 49% on equity gains
Article Abstract:
Swiss Reinsurance Co. posted an improvement of 49% in its net profits for the 1999 first-half period. The company posted 2.56 billion Swiss francs (1.59 billion euros) in net profits for the period as a result of equity gains.
