Executive officers of advertising agencies in Canada usually improve their status by shifting from agency to corporate and vice-versa. This has resulted in people who have accumulated a wealth of experience both in advertising and brand management. This trend has become the norm during the last recession in the face of cutbacks. Thus, marketing professionals tend to move between the agency and corporate side at different stages of their careers.
