Systematic management of differential advantage: a case study from the chemical industry
Article Abstract:
Despite the acknowledged importance of differential advantage, there is a paucity of guidance concerning its management. This study provides insights into the nature of differential advantage in terms of the concept of marketing assets and offers a framework for its management. The procedures are applied in the context of an international chemical company, although the framework has more general applications. Several modifications to the approach are suggested in the light of this experience. (Reprinted by permission of the publisher.)

The Euro: operational hype or strategic relevance?
Article Abstract:
The introduction of the Euro in itself is not strategic from a corporate point of view. However, it is possible for firms to make the Euro strategic within the framework of managing the overall European strategy process. The introduction of the Euro should not have had an impact on an individual company's approaches to how it manages the challenges of competing in an evolving European market. All companies must constantly re-assess their industry and position within it.
