GROUP HOLDING IN TELCO UP BY 2 PC: RATAN
Article Abstract:
Ratan Tata, the chairman of Tata Sons, has stated that the Tata group has raised its stake in Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company (Telco) to 18 percent from 16 percent. It did this by buying 2 percent stake from the open market. The Tata group plans to raise the stake further to 21 percent later. It has another 12 months for doing this according to the creeping acquisition norms of the Securities and Exchange Board of India. (ag)

RUIAS GIVE MAJORITY STAKE IN STERLING TO SWISSCOM

The Ruias have ceased to be the majority shareholders in Sterling Cellular after offering 3 percent of their stake to CellCom India Holdings of Swisscom. Consequently, the stake of Essar Technologies has fallen to 48 percent and that of Swisscom increased to over 51 percent. Apart from Sterling Cellular, the stake of Hutchison in Hutchison Max Telecom Ltd also has gone up to 49 percent. (gsh)
