TOOTH BRUSH
Article Abstract:
The Rs270-crore tooth-brush industry has recorded volume growth of around 10 percent in the last few years. Its volume now is 375 million pieces. The growth in high-priced premium segment has been over 15 percent due to several new products launched by Colgate and Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL) and more advertising. Around 75 percent of the market is dominated by Colgate and HLL in the ratio of 2:1 and the rest is with other players like Forhans and Gillette. Colgate has a greater penetration in the economy segment with its Cibaca brand. Competition is more tough in the premium segment, though it accounts for just 20 percent of the market. (gsh)
