Coates of India Ltd based at Calcutta, a subsidiary of Total SA of France, is a leader in the field of printing inks in India. It is the biggest Indian printing inks company with units at Calcutta, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Noida, Bangalore, Delhi and Madras. The company has an annual turnover of about Rs155 crore. Two of its largest units at Calcutta and Mumbai have ISO accreditation. The company has been gaining market shares in Asian and African countries against stiff competition from Japanese and other Far Eastern companies. (khr)

WARREN TEA RECORDS PROFIT

Article Abstract:

Warren Tea Ltd (WTL) of Vinay K Goenka Group has posted a record net profit of Rs10.75 crore during first half of 1998-99 (Rs10.43 crore in the first half of 1997-98). The pre-tax profit of the company was at Rs15.5 crore (Rs15.2 crore. It has posted a total income of Rs51.43 crore (Rs42.96 crore). WTL's tea production during the period was 106.84 lakh kilograms (kg) (111.15 lakh kg). (gs)
