Tetragon is hit by credit crunch

Article Abstract:

Tetragon Financial Group Ltd., a listed fund run by UK group Polygon Investment Partners, will write off $68 mil of its assets that are connected to mortgage-backed securities, as subprime lending continues to negatively impact the credit market. The write-off represents 5.3% of Tetragon's net assets and 4.5% of its portfolio.

Standard Chartered rescues SIV: Whistlejacket vehicle put on balance sheet; following Citi, HSBC

Article Abstract:

UK bank Standard Chartered PLC will take Whistlejacket Capital Ltd., a structured investment vehicle, onto its balance sheet. Whistlejacket currently has outstanding senior debt totaling $7.15 bil. Standard Chartered has decreased the vehicle's size from its August 2007 level of $18.2 bil by selling off assets.

Turkish sovereign rating rises amid continued drop in debt

Turkey's long-term sovereign debt rating has been lowered by Standard and Poor's. The country's rating was dropped to single-B from single-B-minus.
