Thailand, recovering from the tsunami of six months ago is rebuilding resorts and hotels, still uncovering human remains. As people are continuing to mourn it is as if the architecture has become memorial. A financial turnaround is expected in the travel industry, essential to the local economy.

France's Vinci snubs merger proposal from utility Violia

Article Abstract:

Vinci S.A. of France has turned down a merger consideration from Veolia Environnement S.A. also of France. The construction company said the merger would not have strategic value and would not have created greater value for shareholders.

Investor is set on North Korea: big Egyptian builder to spend $115 million on cement-firm stake

Article Abstract:

Egypt's Orascom Construction Industries S.A.E. will acquire a 50% stake in North Korean state-run cement plant, a unit of Pyongyang Myongdang Trading Corp., for $115 mil. The deal is one of the biggest private investments in North Korea.
