Voters are wondering whether Major can continue effectively as prime minister, but his success depends on his ability to implement much needed reforms. Economic reform was left undone by Margaret Thatcher, and Major must address the imperative issues of education and spending.

Bang? The Maastricht treaty
Article Abstract:
The rejection of the Maastricht treaty's social charter by the British Parliament may wreck the treaty. Prime Minister John Major wants to ratify the treaty anyway. The government fought long it and will not easily see it go down in defeat.
