UK prime minister Tony Blair's support for the US war against terrorism is important because he has more room to manoeuvre. Blair is not affected by the same constraints of domestic politics as US Pres George Bush. However, it is unclear whether Blair's support is bringing him greater influence.

The UK has pledged to support US the military response to the recent terrorist attacks, but perhaps more important than military aid is the respectability which the UK's support brings. However, by supporting the US, the UK makes itself a target.
