The IFORS-SPC 1 Conference, Bruges, Belgium, March 26-29, 1991

Article Abstract:

The International Federation of the National Operational Research Societies (IFORS) was established with the aim of developing and promoting operations research (OR). This is accomplished through the holding of international conferences, publication of newsletters and literatures and cooperation with other scientific societies. IFORS will also hold a regular series of International Specialized Conferences (SPC) on particular OR topics. The first SPC was held in Mar 1991 with the theme of decision support systems.

The founding of EURO: the Association of European Operational Research Societies within IFORS

Article Abstract:

The founding of the Assn. of European Operational Research Societies (EURO) on Jan. 27, 1975 was driven by a desire of the European members of the International Federation of Operational Research Societies (IFORS) to promote the field in Europe. To this end, they held several conferences on Aug. 1972, Sep. 1973 and May 1974 to thresh out the details of holding the First European Operations Research Conference on Jan. 1975. It was at this event that EURO was born.
