The Schweizer 300 helicopter

Article Abstract:

A Schweizer 300 helicopter was involved in an accident while being operated in the Urewera Ranges, New Zealand, on a hunting trip. On the said flight, the helicopter lost power and height after a short distance. The aircraft crashed into trees, killing the pilot while the passengers survived. Investigation of the accident showed the contributing factors included a slight tail wind and power loss, but noted that the flight manual lacked the supplement which would have let the pilot to estimate the extra weight of the external sling-load equipment.

MDH spares concern

Article Abstract:

MD Helicopters Inc is alarmed about the increasing number of helicopter operators that may be using spare parts that are not approved by the manufacturer and are at risk for potentially serious problems in the future. Even more disturbing to MD Helicopters is the non-MDH approved parts that do not meet the requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Therefore, the company is advising customers not to use parts unless they are built under the authority of the original manufacturer or at least FAA certified.

Agusta A109E Power

Article Abstract:

Agusta SpA issued a service directive urging operators to check the swashplate scissor linkages in the A109E after the accident on Jun 17, 2000 involving Berkshire Air Ambulance's Agusta A109E Power. According to industry sources, the initial investigation of the accident shows that the symmetrical scissor link assembly may have been installed incorrectly around, which would indicate a maintenance error and possibly a revision of the important section in the maintenance manual.
