L'Oreal emerged in 1996 as the top company in the subsector for hair-conditioning products in Spain, inspite of a decline in its market share in terms of value to 19.1% during the year. Procter & Gamble, on the other hand, enjoyed in 1996 a share increase of 1.5 percentage points in the Spanish hair-conditioning subsector during the year. While L'Oreal maintains its top spot among hair-conditioning products manufacturers, the hair-conditioning products subsector experienced high fragmentation levels in terms of market share.

Article Abstract:

The hair-colorants sector of the Spanish market for hair-care products saw the emergence in 1996 of permanent hair colorants as the subsector with the largest share. Permanent hair colorants netted in 1996 Ptas7,606 million in revenues, which translated to a 70.5% share of the hair-colorants sector in terms of value during the year. The hair-colorants sector was also noted to have a good performance during 1992 to 1996, with the sector achieving sales of Ptas10,788.6 million, a 44.1% increase.
