The competitive bidding process: beyond probability models

Article Abstract:

In this article, the author reviews various approaches to competitive bidding. He then goes on to describe the results of a study of factors important to general construction contractors in developing a bidding strategy. These factors are synthesized into a general view of strategic bidding that emphasizes a wide range of information flows and describes the final bid outcome as a function of company objectives, costs, risk and desirability of the job. The internationalization process of franchise systems: a conceptual model

Article Abstract:

A conceptual model for the analysis of factors affecting the internationalization provcess of franchise systems is presented. The theoretical framework assumes that the internationalization move is essentially based on a cost/benefit assessment made by top management. Thus, perceived risks and perceived benefits, which are shaped by a set of organizational and environmental factors, play crucial roles in the decision to internationalize.
